The Hong Kong Children's Hospital is located in the Kai Tak Development Area. It is the referral centre for serious, complex and uncommon paediatric cases, which require multi-disciplinary management, such as cancer, heart diseases and renal failure. It provides needy patients from birth to 18 years of age territory-wide with diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services, while the paediatric departments in other public hospitals are responsible for taking care of patients whose condition is relatively stable and providing emergency and community paediatric care.
