Combating the epidemic at all levels

In midst of the fierce fifth wave of the epidemic, most HKCH specialties have infected patients under their care. All the staff in the hospital also work tirelessly to fight against the virus and maintain patient services.

At the same time, HKCH has contributed at various levels to ease the burden of the public healthcare system:

  • Deploy medical technologists to Queen Elizabeth Hospital to support nucleic acid testing to cope with the huge round-the-clock testing volume.

  • Radiologists support imaging reporting of the Hong Kong Infection Control Centre and Community Treatment Facility at AsiaWorld-Expo.

  • Admit emergency surgical cases (including positive patients) transferred from Kwong Wah Hospital, and provide imaging services for paediatric outpatients of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as it has been converted to a designated hospital for COVID-19 patients.

  • Paediatric and neonatal intensive care units take up critical cases from other hospitals where beds are overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients.
