Shaping the future of paediatric care together
Kai Tak Hospital, adjacent to Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, will launch its first phase of services this October. Since we moved into this location in 2018, we have watched this new hospital grow from its foundation into five grand towers. Time truly flies, and we look forward to the future with great anticipation.
The two hospitals will be connected by multiple walkways, forming a large-scale public healthcare complex. We will provide mutual support across clinical services—including the Accident and Emergency Department, paediatrics, obstetrics, and radiotherapy—to deliver more comprehensive and high-quality care for our paediatric patients.
Prof. Lo Chung-mau, the Secretary for Health, visited our hospital last month to learn about our operations and future development. He commended our expert teams, advanced medical equipment, and child-friendly therapeutic environment. He particularly emphasized that HKCH must align with the government's policy directions by taking on the responsibility of integrating paediatric services across different clusters under the Hospital Authority, continuously expanding our services to care for a wider variety and larger volume of patients, while also strengthening healthcare talent training and research development.
This is not only the Secretary’s earnest expectation, but also the shared vision of our entire hospital. Harnessing deep expertise, rich experience and boundless passion, our teams are fully prepared to take on these challenges. I am confident that the upcoming synergy with Kai Tak Hospital will further consolidate our role as a paediatric centre of excellence and fully realize our core mandate.
