香港儿童医院去年12月为病人组织举行简介会，当中介绍的医院室内设计引起不少人好奇。《协力》特别为大家追查，揭开当中秘密。
原来儿童医院其中一个设计特色，是选用活泼生动的动物图案和鲜明的色彩作楼层及引路的标志。选用的动物有八种：猴子、丹顶鹤、熊猫、袋鼠、鹦鹉、树熊、中华白海豚和八爪鱼，分别落户不同的楼层。
一楼用马骝仔，是希望到专科门诊看病的小朋友见到时，同样开心活泼；二楼放了丹顶鹤，是想小朋友到放射治疗部或复康中心进行检查或疗程时，以丹顶鹤做榜样，保持心情平静；而四楼的初生婴儿深切治疗部，就用了袋鼠妈妈与BB，令病童看到牠们，就如自己有妈妈陪伴在侧，不会害怕。外国的儿童医院利用动物图案有不错的成效，香港借镜加上详细咨询病童、家长和医护人员的意见，最后「扑槌」选定这八只动物。
在简介会上，医院管理局发展策略总监罗思伟医生、总行政经理（策略、服务规划及知识管理）李夏茵医生，以及负责设计和兴建医院的承建商和建筑署代表，还介绍了医院的发展进度。病童家长对医院的设计、设施、未来提供的服务，以至感染控制措施、药物安全等都提出不少问题。出席简介会的有超过100人，分别来自20个病人组织。
A briefing session to patient groups on the development of Hong Kong Children’s Hospital (HKCH) was held in December 2015. During the session, patients and parents were eager to know more about the physical design, including how the eight animal characters were being selected as friendly hosts of HKCH and the meaning behind each animal host on different floors of HKCH. HASLink is going to take you through the ideas behind all these lovely animal characters in the hospital design.
An ample use of animal characters and vivid colours to represent different floors is one of the design characteristics of HKCH. The animal hosts will not only facilitate easy navigation for patients and visitors, but also create a child-friendly, pleasant and soothing environment to relieve the anxiety and stress of sick children. The idea of using animal characters was inspired by the child-friendly design of other children hospitals around the world. After a thorough consultation process involving our patients, parents and clinical staff, eight animal characters were selected.
The eight animal characters that have been used as friendly hosts of HKCH are Monkey, Flamingo, Panda, Kangaroo, Parrot, Koala, Pink Dolphin and Octopus. The energetic and playful monkeys will appear on the first floor to cheer up our children attending the Specialist Outpatient Clinic. The flamingos on the second floor will support young patients in the Radiology Unit and Rehabilitation Centre to stay calm and balanced during procedures and therapies.The fourth floor with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will be the home of kangaroo mothers and babies. They will accompany the seriously-ill neonates and their carers through the tough time in life, and symbolise the strong bonding between parents and babies.
At the briefing session, Dr S V Lo, Director (Strategy & Planning), and Dr Libby Lee, Chief Manager (Strategy, Service Planning & Knowledge Management), of the Hospital Authority, joined with representatives from the Government’s Architectural Services Department and the awarded contractor responsible for the design and construction of HKCH, gave an update on the development of the Hospital and an overview of its interior design and facilities.
Participants were keen to ask questions, which ranged from those about the hospital design, facilities and services, to infection control and medication safety. More than 100 members from 20 different patient groups participated in this briefing session.
