Occupational Therapy
Introduction
Babies, children and adolescents who have problem performing their life roles and participating in daily living due to congenital or acquired medical problems may be indicated for and benefit from occupational therapy. Our occupational therapists will facilitate them to catch up with their developmental milestones, maximize their functional abilities, maintain and improve their health and wellbeing, and re-integrate into the community. We will also help parents to understand their children’s strengths and weaknesses, and how to encourage them to actively participate in the rehabilitation process.
By adopting a holistic care approach, our occupational therapists strive to enhance the age-appropriate development of patients in postural control, fine motor, sensory, cognitive, visual perceptual and social aspects; maximize their functional capabilities and independence in their activities of daily living (e.g. feeding, dressing, grooming, toileting and bathing), school life, leisure, sports and play; and facilitate their optimal life functioning at home, school and the community, so that they can live a quality life with meaning and dignity.
We closely communicate and collaborate with the clinical team to provide optimal and effective integrated care for our patients. We also wish to empower caregivers with competence and confidence in taking care of their children by offering them with advice and training.
