Orthopaedics
Introduction
We are a tertiary paediatric orthopaedic referral centre, providing evaluation and treatment for children with a broad range of complex or rare orthopaedic conditions. We accept patient referrals from both public hospitals and the private sector. We also provide consultation for patients under the care of other specialties at the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital (HKCH).
Our team consists of doctors specialised in paediatric orthopaedics. We work closely with other HKCH departments in joint consultations and combined clinics to provide high-quality and integrated multi-disciplinary care.
Orthopaedic outpatient clinic sessions are held regularly for both new referrals and follow-up patients. There are also dedicated clinics to cater for specific orthopaedic (e.g. neuromuscular) conditions. Patients with complex conditions (e.g. skeletal dysplasias, metabolic bone diseases, neuromuscular conditions) requiring inputs from other paediatric specialties are seen at multidisciplinary clinics.
Regular elective operating theatre sessions and emergency operation services are key components of our service. We provide comprehensive preoperative assessment, postoperative rehabilitation and surgical expertise in common and complex paediatric conditions requiring surgical intervention. Our emergency operation services primarily cover in-patients under other HKCH specialties.
Our mission:
- To provide high-quality, children and family-centred care by a dedicated team for patients with paediatric orthopaedic conditions
- To provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary and holistic perioperative care and rehabilitation for patients undergoing surgical intervention
