"This place gives us strength to take care of our son." ── Parent

The Family Overnight Rooms located on 4/F of Tower B have commenced service since November 2021. This family-friendly facility is the first of its kind in all public hospitals. It offers a comfortable place for parents to recharge their body and mind.

Each room is equipped with a bed, ensuite bathroom, TV and Wi-Fi. Parents or the main carers of ICU patients can apply to stay there.

One of the first users Mrs Cheung said, "It's tough having to worry about my son all the time. It gives me a heart attack every time I get a call from the hospital in the middle of the night, so I dare not walk away." Said Mr Cheung, "We used to sit outside the ward for the whole day, which left us with backache and swollen feet. Now we have a proper place to sleep and grab a bite. This gives us a breather and strength to take care of our son."

The room charge is quite a burden for the Cheungs who quit their jobs due to their son's illness. Fortunately, they are able to benefit from the hospital's sponsorship programme which is supported by the generous donation from Mrs Wong Tang Mei-wah in name of her late husband.

Mrs Cheung thanked the donor, "This is a very practical help which allows us to spend more precious time with our son. I feel much relieved that he is just a few steps away."
