Can we do more for our children?

It has been nearly six years since we opened. We are making good progress in clinical services, and implementing some territory-wide projects. HKCH will surely continue to provide quality care to patients with uncommon and complex diseases. But as we look ahead, can we step out and play a bigger part in the overall physical and mental wellbeing of children and adolescents?

To achieve holistic care, it is important to have medical-educational-social collaboration. Can we work with schools, educators, NGOs and community partners to help children overcome the challenges during their growth and development? Can our doctors, nurses and allied health professionals contribute their expertise to disseminate correct medical information, and offer professional advice on health topics people care about (e.g. diet, exercises, medication use, managing emotions and stress, parenting, special education needs)?

By joining forces, we shall be able to promote healthy living of children more effectively. If there are problems, they could be recognized earlier for appropriate diagnosis and intervention.
