reshaping the out-patient experience

Yellow zone of the SOPC
▲ There are 54 rooms in the SOPC used for consultation, examination, blood-taking, baby care and patient education etc. All specialties are concentrated in the same location. The clinic is divided into four colour zones – yellow, turquoise, green and pink – making it easier for patients to find their way around. Patients can also conveniently go up one level to the Department of Radiology for imaging, and reach the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre across the bridge.

The Hong Kong Children’s Hospital specializes in treating serious and complex paediatric conditions. For child patients and families, the specialist out-patient clinic (SOPC) is usually the starting point of their treatment journey, and also the place where they keep going back for follow-up. Our SOPC not only brings together expertise, it also boasts many unique features tailored to users’ needs. They effectively enhance clinical outcomes, convenience and satisfaction, creating a positive experience for patients.

The SOPC service continues to expand. It now has over 100 individual clinics, and more than 66,000 attendances in 2024-25. Dr Joanna Tung, Consultant of the Department of Paediatrics & Adolescents Medicine who co-ordinates the SOPC service, stated, "Our infrastructure and patient journey are well planned, and we keep improving them. We do all these small things with great love, hoping to give everyone high-quality care and a delightful experience."
