Coming from England with an excellent national health system and being from Liverpool where we have a famous children's hospital – Alder Hey, I was blown away with how absolutely excellent our whole experience was at Hong Kong Children's Hospital. Everything from the first consultation with the surgeon and anesthesiologist in January, to the honest and personal phone call from the surgeon himself informing us why the surgery had been postponed due to the Coronavirus in February. Then a personal phone call informing us that an operation slot was available for our son and if we would like it, a week before the surgery.

The attentiveness and sincerity of the nurses and doctors on the surgery ward was impeccable. Even the health assistants and security staff were friendly, approachable and open. Everything ran on schedule and when you are an anxious parent, time keeping is fundamental to ensure we keep calm and helping us to feel valued, safe and that everything is under control.

I have to say that the transfer from the surgery ward to the operating theatre was exceptional. The kind words from the nurses and doctors and especially the anesthesiologist put my mind at ease and my baby son was calm and happy in their cheerful and relaxed company.

After the surgery the follow up by the anesthesiologist and nurses was comforting and I felt happy to know clearly that the operation went well.

Back at the surgery ward for my baby's recovery, the nurses were super attentive and delicate when attending to my baby son. We both felt taken care of and comforted by regular feedback and advice.

When we were discharged after the day of observation post surgery, the process was quick and well explained.
