Private services open many doors

Private ward
▲ The Private Ward commenced operation in March.

During the planning stage of the HKCH, spaces were already designated for the private ward and private clinic for providing comprehensive private inpatient and outpatient services.

Offering private services is to meet public expectation on more quality healthcare choices. When children are suspected or diagnosed with a rare or serious illness, worried parents often face information overload. A convenient and accessible private service can assist them to look for experts for consultation and assessment, and learn about treatment options.

Through private services, HKCH will also receive hard-to-handle cases from the Mainland and overseas. Their large paediatric population offers exposure for our healthcare staff, which will help enhance experience, training and research, helping to fulfil our vision of becoming a centre of excellence in paediatrics and an international paediatric referral centre. This will also benefit Hong Kong’s image, and indirectly attract global talents by giving them confidence in the city’s healthcare standards and the peace of mind that their families are well covered.

To increase public understanding, we have recently produced two videos. One showcases our clinical, research and training achievements, while the other illustrates the one-stop patient journey.

We will keep improving the quality of both public and private services, ensuring that all sectors of society can receive the best possible care and support.

Dr Lee Tsz-leung, Hospital Chief Executive
