Respiratory Medicine

Introduction

Our team provides tertiary paediatric respiratory services for children with complex respiratory condition in Hong Kong, including diagnostic workups and medical treatment. We adopt a multidisciplinary approach in the management of our patients together with nurse specialists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists and dieticians. We also work closely with other specialist teams such as cardiothoracic surgery, dentistry and maxillofacial surgery, otorhinolaryngology and oncology for complex conditions involving the airway and respiratory system.

Scope of Services

At the present phase, we mainly serve children aged 18 or below who are currently under the care of the Hong Kong Children's Hospital by providing them with clinical consultations, respiratory diagnostic testing, rehabilitation programmes, and non-invasive ventilatory support programmes.

We offer both in-patient and out-patient services including joint multidisciplinary clinics with various sub-specialties for coordinated care from diagnosis to long-term management, including nurse counselling, patient education, and procedures such as pulmonary function testing and bronchoscopy. We coordinate clinical services for children requiring non-invasive ventilatory support for a variety of complex medical conditions. In addition, we are currently in the process of expanding our sleep-disordered breathing services.
