New or existing cases of inborn errors of immunity, diseases of immune dysregulation, rheumatological, autoimmune, autoinflammatory, primary immunodeficiency, and allergic conditions that would benefit from:

  • clinical care, including evaluation and management, by paediatricians with expertise in immunology, rheumatology and allergy
  • disease modifying anti-rheumatic agents (DMARDS), immunosuppressive or biologic therapy
  • targeted therapy, consideration for cellular therapy or haematopoietic stem cell transplantation
  • immunoglobulin replacement or immunomodulatory therapy by intravenous or subcutaneous administration
  • allergy testing, drug allergy de-labelling and desensitisation to anaesthetic drugs

Immunology
  • Inborn errors of immunity (IEI)
  1. Immunodeficiencies, e.g. severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID), X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA), common variable immunodeficiency (CVID)
  2. Auto-inflammation, e.g. periodic fever syndromes, monogenic auto-inflammatory disorders
  3. Diseases of immune dysregulation, e.g. autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndromes (ALPS), CTLA4 haploinsufficiency
  4. Others
Rheumatology
  • Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
  • Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM)
  • Vasculitides, e.g. systemic vasculitis, polyarteritis nodosa (PAN), refractory Kawasaki disease
  • Ocular inflammation, e.g. uveitis, ocular vasculitis
  • Systemic sclerosis
  • Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD)
  • Chronic multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO)
  • Others
Allergy
  • Perioperative allergy, e.g. suspected or confirmed drug allergy to anaesthetics requiring identification of the culprit drug and alternative safe anaesthetics or desensitisation
  • For other conditions, services are provided to children with complex allergic conditions under the care of other specialties and subspecialties within the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital
  • Referrers of children with complex allergic conditions can consider the following designated Paediatric Immunology, Allergy and Infectious Diseases (PIAID) training centres (by alphabetical order): Princess Margaret Hospital/Yan Chai Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Queen Mary Hospital

Referral Pathway

  • Outpatient referrals can be submitted to the HKCH Specialist Outpatient Clinic by the patient via HA Go app, email (hkchsopcbooking@ha.org.hk), or fax (3512 7579)
  • For special conditions or direct communication, please contact the duty Immunology, Rheumatology and Allergy team doctor through the hospital operator during office hours (tel: 3513 3888)
  • External perioperative allergy consultations are considered on an elective basis and will be screened for outpatient appointment after the referral letter or fax has been received in the Specialist Outpatient Clinic
