Urgent Referral to Accident & Emergency Department of Regional HA Hospitals

  • Testicular pain
  • Paraphimosis
  • Incarcerated inguinal hernia
  • Abscess
  • Preauricular sinus with infection
  • Haemangioma with ulceration or bleeding
  • Burns
  • Acute abdominal pain

Referral to HKCH Paediatric Surgery Specialist Outpatient Clinic

Cleft and craniofacial anomalies
  • Cleft lip or palate, macrostomia, Pierre Robin
Urological conditions
  • Obstructive uropathy, ureterocele, duplex kidney, vesico-ureteric reflux (VUR), horseshoe kidney, hydronephrosis, gross haematuria, urinary tract stones
  • Hypospadias, disorder of sex development, imperforated hymen
  • Nocturnal enuresis, urinary frequency, incontinence
Hepatobiliary conditions
  • History of biliary atresia, choledochal cyst, gallstones
Gastrointestinal conditions
  • Suspected / confirmed Hirschsprung's disease, abdominal distension, constipation, Meckel's diverticulum, gastro-oesophageal reflux
  • Chronic or recurrent abdominal pain, dyspepsia, epigastric pain, per-rectal bleeding, anal fissure
General paediatric surgery conditions
  • Inguinal hernia, undescended / impalpable testis, testicular mass, breast mass, umbilical discharge, umbilical hernia
  • Phimosis, hydrocele, varicocele, lymphadenopathy, dermoid cyst, pigmented naevus, hyperhydrosis, accessory auricle, pre-auricular polyp or sinus, branchial cyst or sinus, tongue tie, neck mass, scar, keloid
Vascular or lymphatic malformations
  • Cystic hygroma, lymphatic malformation, haemangioma, vascular malformation

Referral to Regional HA Hospitals with Orthopaedic Unit

  • Wart or sebaceous cyst over limb or body

Referral Pathway

  • For non-urgent consultations, the patient could send the referral letter to the HKCH Specialist Outpatient Clinic via HA Go app, email (hkchsopcbooking@ha.org.hk), or fax (3512 7579).
